A Study on the Use of ChatGPT in Korean Language Education - Focusing on the production of educational materials in Korean culture classes

이 연구는 한국어교육에서의 챗GPT 활용 가능성을 탐색하기 위해 실제 한국문화 수업에서 사용할 수 있는 교육 자료를 제작하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 문헌 검토를 기반으로 챗GPT를 활용한 실제 교육 자료 제작 사례를 제시하고, 전문가 3인의 질적 평가를 통해 챗GPT 기반 교육 자료의 한계와 활용 방안을 제언하였다. 챗GPT를 활용한 교육 자료 제작은 학습자의 수준과 학습 목표에 적합한 교육 자료를 신속히 생성함으로써 교사의 자료 준비 부담을 줄이고학습자의 문화적 이해를 증진하는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 특히, 챗GPT를 활용하여 제작한 교육 자료는 기존의 문화 교재에서 다루지 못한문화 학습 활동을 보완하거나 개선할 가능성을 보여주었다. 또한 챗GPT가 생성한 자료는 학습자 중심의 활동 설계와 문화 비교 토론 등을 통해 학습자의 적극적인 참여를 유도할 수 있는 효과적인 도구로 활용될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 문화적 맥락의 세부 반영과 정보 정확성에 있어 교사의 검증 과정이 필요하며, 챗GPT의 응답 편향성을 극복하기 위해 명확하고 구체적인 프롬프트 설계가 요구되었다. 이 연구는 챗GPT를 활용한 교육 자료 제작이 한국문화 수업의질적 향상을 위한 새로운 방향이 될 수 있음을 시사하며 한국어교육에서도 유용한 도구로 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 보여 준다.

This study aimed to create educational materials that can be used inKorean culture classes to explore the possibility of using ChatGPT inKorean language education. To this end, the case of producingeducational materials using ChatGPT based on a literature review waspresented, and the limitations and directions of the use of ChatGPTeducational materials were suggested through a qualitative evaluationby three experts. Results confirm that the production of educationalmaterials using ChatGPT could reduce the burden of teachers’ datapreparation and enhance learners’ cultural understanding by quicklycreating educational materials suitable for learners’ levels and learninggoals. In particular, educational materials produced using ChatGPTshowed the potential to improve cultural learning activities that existingcultural textbooks cannot handle. In addition, it was confirmed that thedata generated by ChatGPT can be used as an effective tool to inducelearners’ active participation through learner-centered activity designand cultural comparison discussions. However, a teacher’s verificationprocess is required for a detailed reflection of the cultural context andinformation accuracy, and a clear and specific prompt design isrequired to overcome ChatGPT’s response bias. This study suggests that the production of educational materials using ChatGPT can providea new direction for improving the quality of Korean culture classes.
