본 연구는 청소년의 휴대폰 활용유형이 휴대폰 의존도를 매개로 학교부적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다중회귀분석을 수행하고, 매개변수의 매개효과를 직접 검증하기 위한 Sobel test를 실시하였다. 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 한국아동․청소년패널조사 2010(KCYPS: Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey)의 자료를 사용하였고, 분석대상은 휴대폰을 소지한 중학교 1학년 학생 2,159명으로, 남학생 1,043명(48.3%), 여학생 1,116명(51.7%)이다. 연구결과, 휴대폰으로 가족과 연락을 많이 할수록 학교부적응에 부적인(-) 영향을 미치고, 친구와 연락을 많이 할수록, 오락을 많이 할수록 학교부적응에 정적인(+) 영향을 미쳤다. 휴대폰 의존도의 매개효과를 살펴보았을 때 청소년의 휴대폰 활용유형과 학교부적응 사이에서 부분적인 매개 역할을 하고 있음이 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 학교부적응을 감소시킬 수 있는 개입방안을 제시하였다.


This study explored the effect of mobile phone usage type on school maladjustment and mediating role of mobile phone dependency. For this purpose, multiple regression analyses and Sobel test were applied to explore mediating effect. This study utilized the data from 2010 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) administered by National Youth Policy Institute. The analysis was from 2,159 students of 1st grade in middle school who had mobile phones; and 1,043(48.3%) of them were male and 1,116(51.7%) were female. The results are as follows. Contact with their family via mobile phone had negatively significant effect on school maladjustment. However, the more students contacted with their friends and play games via mobile phone, the more they brought positively significant effects on school maladjustment. In addition, mobile phone dependency had partial mediating effect on the relationship between mobile phone usage type and school maladjustment. Finally, the implications for youth welfare were discussed based upon the results of this study in order to enhance appropriate mobile phone usage and reduce school maladjustment.
