The purpose of this article is to explore the co-relation between psychological maturity and spiritual healing from the perspective of spirituality and also to propose the necessity of integrating psychotherapy and spiritual direction for whole human healing. Psychotherapy has been focused principally on the psychological dimension of human maturity as the goal of counseling and psychotherapy. But the challenge for contemporary counselors and psychotherapists is to meet client's spiritual needs and expectations in pursuing their whole being health. In this holistic approach, wellness may be defined as “the process and state of a quest for maximum human functioning that involves the body, mind, and spirit”. Here spiritual dimension is the core aspect in integrating other dimensions of mental health. In the light of co-relation between spirituality and individual psychological maturity, religion and psychology must be operated complementarily. In the Christian tradition spiritual direction, especially Lectio Divina and contemplative prayer, shows a new possibility for whole human healing. And its therapeutic effects are proved in research materials. The possibility of application of Lectio Divina and contemplative prayer for Christian counseling is to be further investigated.
