A new cultivar ‘Dansan’ was developed by Garlic Research Institute, Chungcheongbuk-do Agricultural Research &Extension Services in 2009. The major characteristics of this cultivar are incomplete bolting, early maturity and high yield. Skin color of the clove is light brown, and plant type is straight. The average bulb diameter and weight are 46.5 cm and 34.2 g respectively. The secondary growth rate was 17.3% in ‘Danyangjong’ and 3.3% in ‘Dansan’. The average yield as 1,131 kg/10a,which was higher 18% compared to Danyangjong. From result of HPLC, sulfur compounds content such as alliin, allicin, and S-allyl-L-cysteine were higher than ‘Danyangjong’ as 32.5 mg/g, 8.3 mg/g and 0.34 mg/g respectively.
