In this study, short term weight loss method has been conducted to help those athletes in need of more effective weight control and also to present scientific analysis. There were 10 weight-class athletes who had participated short-term weight loss program previously. Average body composition (body weight, body water, muscle, fat, fat-free) and anaerobic exercise capacity (Mean power, Peak power, Minimum power, Time to Peak power, Fatigue index) were measured after the participants went through the following program-1. 20 minutes half body bath and 5 minutes steam-sauna vs. 2. 5-day dietary restriction (the 1st 1300 ~ 1500kcal intake) which made participants to lose 3% of body weight. In order to compare the difference between the two methods (moisture loss through sauna vs. five days of calorie restriction), the paired sample t-test has been analyzed using SPSS 12.0 Program. The result shows that former method which uses sauna caused significant reduction (p<.05) in Minimum Power in anaerobic exercise capacity. And latter method which uses 5-day dietary restriction caused significant reduction(p<.05) in body fat in body composition and significant increase(p<.05) in the oxygen fatigue index in exercise capacity. Even 3% loss in anaerobic exercise capacity in short term is considered to change body composition and anaerobic exercise capacity significantly and therefore impact the performance.
