The purpose of this article is to analyze the evolution and the pattern of regional system of Korea in the Pre-modern period, through the three physical elements (Node, Relation, and Link). The regional system of Korea was consisted of the first Capital and approximately 330 Kun·Hyeons(郡縣),but most of the Kun· Hyeons were self-sufficient and closed, and had a horizontal hierarchy with other Kun·Hyeons. However Hanyang(漢陽) was the superior city to the others, especially in a governmental and administrative aspect. In the late period of Joseon dynasty, the urban zone(Relation) had been expanded externally from Hanyang, corresponding to the development of commerce and trade. Due to the expansion of the urban zone, the growth of transportation distance between regions causes symptoms of industrial systematization. These symptoms also caused the stratification of middle hierarchy regions among the subordinate Kun·Hyeons. Eventually, the 3rd tier ‘ Stratification of Regions’ by Industrialization based on the ‘ Core-Periphery Regional model’was accomplished by‘ Treaty Port System’
