This study, as a case study to understand the East through Eastern perspective, analyzed Miyazaki Hayao's texts from the 21th century Japan with “Xiang(象)”, a recognition tool of “The Book of Changes(周易)”. Ancient Greek philosophers regarded concepts and logics as their tool for recognizing world, whereas ancient Chinese used “Xiang(象)” that was viewed as the form how the world reveals it. Therefore, they arranged trigrams in order to understand the principle of the world, and observed the “Xiang” to extract the essence of things. When analyzing Miyazaki Hayao's works ranged from “Nausica of the Valley of the Winds”(1984) to recent works in accordance with the Eastern perspective, there would be found the co-existential pattern(對待) of Yin-Yang(陰陽)'s mutual antagonistic recognition. Miyazaki Hayao depicted the modern age as Yang world with characteristics of “Fire(火)” and “Metal(金),” and Pre―/Anti―/Post―Modernity as Yin world with characteristics of “Water(水)” and “Tree(木)”. In addition, it is recognized that these carry out the mutual antagonistic and mutual life-giving process of co-existential pattern(對待). This clearly differs with dualism that conceives the movement of history as “opposition-destruction,” and we can think that he carried out “Cultural Re-embrace” of Yoshimi Takeuchi through his patterns and map of recognition.
