The purpose of this study was to analyze the establishment and improvement of the thermal performance standards in the material properties of new Korean traditional house and the subsequent the amount of heating energy reduction. Korean traditional house has historical nature, as well as the possibility of eco-friendly housing, but issues in lack of thermal performance have been heavily recognized. In this study, two major factors those are properties of material properties and airtightness were measured. 3 types of material performance properties (old traditional house property; Case1, building act regulation model property; Case2, passive house regulation property; Case3) was analyzed and heating load of each case is verified by ESP-r energy simulation program. By MANOVA test, Heat transfer coefficient, infiltration, heating set point were selected and material properties; wall, window, floor, roof were also analysed. Simulation results indicated that building heating loads decreased about 42%, 86%, respectively by changing from Case1 to Case2 and Case1 to Case3. And air tightness enhancement from traditional house to the passive house guideline reduces heating load by 49%.
