In this study, we carried out the leaching test of heavy metals using iron slag to ensure the harmfulness for reusing. And also, its possibility of recycling as resources was estimated after neutralization using injection of CO2 exhaust gas or mixing with acidic soil. According to the results of leaching test of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) which were produced in steel industry, Cu and Pb were detected but their concentration were under the guidelines for heavy metals in waste management act in Korean. Other heavy metals were not detected. And also, we analyzed the pH variation of leachate that it was produced after formation of carbonated slag by spraying CO2 exhaust gas on difference of particle size. The pH was closer to neutral as reducing particle size. The pH variation of leachate which was produced the mixed slag with acidic soil showed the weak alkaline characteristics. As a result, it could be possible to reuse as a road packing or roadbed material of carbonated slag which was controlled particle size and neutralization.
