Green tea extract was tested to determine the antimicrobial effects against Paralichthys olivaceus pathogenic bacteria, Edwardsiella tarda. The antimicrobial effect was evaluated by measuring the change of genomic DNA concentration level of E. tarda, which was obtained after treatment of green tea ethanol extract, EtOAc-soluble neutral and acidic solvent-fractionation, respectively. Green tea extract showed the concentration dependent killing against E. tarda, where the green tea extract significantly inhibited the growth of E. tarda in the minimum inhibitory concentration of 1000~2000 ppm and minimum bactericidal concentration of 1500~2000 ppm.
