Regarding Tahiti of the South Pacific, an aesthetic research of Polynesie culture and tradition together with Paul Gauguin's works of art has been made for a long time. The purpose of this study is, with regard to Society and Space of Nouvelle Caledonie of Melanesie Kanak culture sphere, to look into antagonism and harmony, combination of tradition and modern times, and social meaning of native architecture space, through Centre Culturel Jean Marie Tjibauo of Renzo Piano1). This paper also intends to study effects of Kanak culture space and modern architecture, tropical architecture from a bio-technical standpoint, preservation of native culture and mutual interface of cultural space. It also seeks the possibility of lowering cultural heterogeneity between natives and inhabitants as the relation between the internal visibility of native architecture and the phenomenon of the modern society.
