The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the change of the urban administration in postmodern society. In American public administration, postmodern discussions began in the early 1990s, with a dissatisfaction about the predominance of the practitioner orientation in the main organization for public administration(ASPA). In Korea, postmodern researches in public administration began in the late 1990s, but still remains in its early stage. This paper examines issues related to modern urban administration in the age of postmodernity and suggests five main points - governance, small narratives, diversity, gender neutrality, and a decentralized approach -to harmonize the urban administrative behaviors with a postmodern society.
