The teaching competency of teachers is closely related with the quality of education as well as the learning achievement of students. To evaluate the teaching competency of science teachers, standards have to be developed and strategies of evaluation must be proposed. Hence, this study aims to develop a strategy and a model for the evaluation of the teaching competency of science teachers. Firstly, components to be included in the evaluation model were selected, and then a procedure was proposed. The evaluation model was tested and analyzed, on its validity and applicability after a case study carried out in a secondary school.
