The purpose of this study was to effects of the endurance exercise intensity on the Body weight and obesity index in rats. 84 male white rat of Sprague-Dawley(6 week of age) were divided into the three group; control group(COG; n=28), low intensity(20m/min) trained group(LTG; n=28), and high intensity(28m/min) trained group(HTG; n=28). The adaptation training to the environment and the adaptation training to the treadmill running were performed for one week, with the exercise program 5 times/week during 12 week. Following are the results of the research. The Body weight and food efficiency ratio were significant differences between exercise group and control group in 8 weeks and 12 weeks. There were significant differences on obesity index and fat mass change of control group, low intensity exercise group and high intensity exercise group in 4 weeks and 8 weeks, and significant difference between exercise group and control group in 12 weeks. Also, adipose tissue size and number were significant differences between exercise group and control group in 12 weeks. In conclusion, regular endurance exercise of 12 weeks have a meaningful influence on Body weight loss and obesity index but the different intensity of the exercise seemed to have no significant differences. It is suggested that when consider exercise program for obese person, there should be enough time for increase of energy consumption than exercise intensity.
