대정친목회는 ‘대정실업친목회’로 알려진 까닭에 경제단체 또는 경제인들의 친목단체라는 평가를 받아왔다. 그러나 1916년 창립 때부터 1940년 무렵까지 정식 명칭은 대정친목회였다. 대정친목회는 경성에서 활동하는 다수의 경제인과 관료, 귀족, 종교인, 교육자, 언론인, 법조인, 의료인 등으로 구성되었다. 곧 대정친목회는 경성의 유지들로 조직된 단체였다. 회원 중에는 관리, 언론사 고위간부, 국책은행 대표 등 재조일본인사회의 유력자들도 있었다.대정친목회의 설립 목적은 내선융화로써 이를 달성하기 위해 사교기관을 표방했다. 조선인의 잘못된 풍습을 바로잡고 조선총독부의 시책에 적극 협조하면서 일본인과 조선인 상류인사들간의 만남을 통해 서로의 오해를 풀 때 진정한 내선융화를 이룰 수 있다는 취지였다. 따라서 1920년대 초반까지 대정친목회의 주요 활동은 일본인 고위관리와의 연회, 풍속개량 등에 두어졌다. 1920년대 중반에 접어들면서 대정친목회의 내선융화운동은 정치운동으로 전환했다. 당시 사회주의를 격렬히 비난하면서 일본의 제국의회에 조선인 의원도 뽑자는 참정권청원운동에 적극 나섰다. 조선은 식민지가 아니라 일본의 한 지방이라는 인식 속에서 척식성 관할하에 조선을 두는 ‘척식성관제설치안’에도 격렬히 반발했다. 대정친목회는 스스로를 일본국민의 일원으로 생각하면서 일제의 만주침략을 옹호하고 대표적 민족말살정책인 창씨개명에 쌍수를 들어 환영했다. 이러한 활동의 결과로 당대에 대정친목회는 ‘친일의 중심기관’이라는 평가를 받았다.

Therefore, the main activities of Daejongchinm okhoe until the early 1920s were the entertainments with Japanese high rank officers, reforms of customs, etc. Entering mid-1920s, Nae-seon Yoonghwa campaign had changed into the political one. At that time, they criticized seriously the socialism and participated actively in the voting right calling campaign, electing Joseon people for the Japanese empire congress. They also resisted fiercely the establishment plan of Chuksiksunggwanje(拓植省官制) that Joseon is not the colonial territory but one of the Japanese part under Chuksiksung. Daejongc hinmokhoe considered themselves as the people of Japanese, advocated the Japanese invasion to Manju, and gave their hearty support for Changssigaem yong(創氏改名). As a result, it was estimated as the core pro-Japanese organization in the period.
