초록 close

An authentic cadence is repeatedly presented in the closing section of a sonata exposition, after the presence of a new key which has been already established in the 2nd theme area. Even though a cadence brings a sense of close, the closing section does not mean the ultimate cadence. Thus, the cadence in the closing section is involved with dual characters: finality and continuity. Although the cadence is harmonically relaxed, it plays a role to show a melodic continuity. This study explores some elements how to lead and expect the next melody after the harmonic relaxation by the cadence in Mozart's Sonatas, especially the closing section of the exposition. For example, the ways are as follows: it prepares for melodic process by presenting compound levels using stepwise and leap motions alternately; it differentiates the melodic expectation by inducing the other tension that comes from repetition of varied melody; it preserves stability resolving tension of the leap motion by stepwise motion using complimentarily leap and stepwise motion.
