Anthropological study about Takarazuka Revue Lee, Sung Jae Takarazuka Revue Company has been a most successful and unique phenomenon in the Japanese performing arts world. This Revue consists of unmarried women. His dream, however, reached only a section of the general population. It is important for the Takarazuka to keep its identity, which is exclusively played by girls and, due to this fact, we can verify the important reason of its current success. Furthermore, the otokoyaku, who plays the male role, not only represents an actress but a way of thinking about the ideal man. Historically, Japan considered the mixture of two sexes as an object of beauty. This fact is linked with the broader worship of an artificial existence. The Takarazuka gave a new perspective on the sex and it showed well the Japanese historic meaning on the bisexuality. Clothing is the means to, and even the substance of, the character’s commutable gender, as the expression “beauty as man” suggests; accordingly, otokoyaku switches at one point from masculine to feminine attire.
