]The aim of this paper is to clarify the word formation rule of Korean 'V- eoV' compound verb. After revealing the merits and demerits of the previous approaches, this paper propose the syntactic categorial conversion as the mechanism for the compound verb formation. The main point is that the categorial conversion turns 'V-eo' to Adv if necessary and the categorically converted Adv and V are concatenated to form 'V-eoV' compound verb which can be listed in the lexicon. Under the categorial conversion, the argument composition of 'V- eoV' compound verb is computed under the local syntactic relation, that is, the head-to-head relation which is used as the '-usi-' honorific agreement configuration too. The proper domain of the syntactic categorial conversion may be extended to adnominal and adverbial constructions and complex words which contain a conjugation form as a part.
