이 연구의 목적은 전문계 고교 교장의 리더 특성과 효과성의 관계를 구명하는데 있었다. 연구목적의 달성을 위해 전문계 고교 교장 395명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 자료 수집에 사용된 조사도구는 리더 특성척도(Leader Attributes Inventory)와 리더 효과성척도(Leader Effectiveness Index)로 구성된 질문지를 사용하였다. 질문지는 전문계 고교 교장이 리더로서 자신의 수준을 6점 리커트 척도로 응답하도록 구성하였다. 질문지는 ‘전국전문계 고등학교 교장 연찬회’에 참석한 전문계 고교 교장에게 직접 배포수집하였고, 395개의 질문지가 최종 분석에 활용되었다.


The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between principals' leader attributes and leader effectiveness of vocational high school. The subjects for the study were 395 vocational high school principals. A survey questionnaire was developed by the researcher, which consisted of leader attributes inventory including 37 items and leader effectiveness index including 7 items. It is 6-point Likert-type scale for them to rate the agreement level. A questionnaire was distributed directly to the sample and 395 returned questionnaires were analyzed after data cleaning. The major findings in this study were as follows. ① It was relatively higher on the following attributes: accountable, personal integrity, committed to the common good, energetic with stamina, achievement-oriented. ② Leader attributes were classified three factors, which were organization, drive, and tolerance. ③ Several attributes were showed significant difference according to the types of school and institution. ④ Leader effectiveness was slightly high, and were not showed significant differences according to personal characteristics. ⑤ Six task based leader effectiveness were highly interrelated with leader attributes.
