Knowing that it is possible to improve abilities such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing through English drama, in this study we focused on areas involving creativity and examined how to improve creativity. I am particularly interested in methods to improve the creativity of primary and secondary school students through English drama. I examined the relationship between creativity and English drama, and investigated the guidelines of improving creativity in the areas of playwriting, rehearsal, and stagecraft such as stage scenery, props, costumes, music and sound effects. To do this, I designed baseline criteria for assessment of English drama activities using an “Creative English Drama Checklist.”
