In writing an essay in Japanese, a conventional writing structure composed of a three­part (introduction ­ subject ­ conclusion) or four-part organization (introduction ­ development ­ turn ­ conclusion) has been widely instructed. However, no methodology that can help the learners learn how to make up the structure easily yet accurately has been established. The present paper examines the structure of an essay, and puts forward its new component.
