This paper attempts to introduce a parsing technique based on the linguistic analysis of Korean in order not to make a technology-driven system. A system based on a linguistically-driven parsing system can be the first step towards producing a general ICALL (Intelligent CALL) system. The sentences Korean learners input are decoded morphologically and syntactically as a morphological process, which produces (a) combination(s) of Korean syntactic categories. The processes for complex lexemes and syntactic decoding are also addressed. This paper aims to introduce procedures for constructing and representing semological information that Korean learners input. This process would involve building a semantic structure for representation at the conceptual level. For modularity without mixing linguistic information with computer procedure, the output result of the syntactic decoding process can serve as an input to the semantic level. Semantic comprehension is achieved by constructing two kinds of sememic dictionaries. With the parsing procedure described above, this paper intends to provide the momentum to establish an ICALL system for students‘ learning Korean as a second language.
