This study was designed to explore the relations between space locations and the function of tourism industry on the assumption that the function of tourism industry in cities includes creating space location changes in a variety of factors related to urban growth, such as increased employment opportunities, population growth, increased traffic and transportation means between cities and the external expansion of residence areas. For the analysis through Location Quotient(LQ) index, businesses involving tourism industry were analyzed, including hotels, restaurants, wholesale, traffic and transportation, culture and entertainment and a comparative analysis between the year 1991 and 2000 was done using the numbers of businesses and employees in these fields. The results showed a more appreciable location differentiation between the same functions and that, overall, commercial areas were physically and functionally concentrated in the subareas of downtown, including Northwestern Nackdong-river area(Goopo, Sasang and Hadan), Dongrae and Haeundae special tourist zone, unlike the past years when commercial areas developed around downtown areas such as Nampo-dong and Gwangbok-dong and near Semyeon and Beomil-dong.
