This paper aims at analysing persuasive strategies with which newspaper editors materialize their own subjective thoughts in headlines and ways by which they are conveyed to readers. Newspaper headlines are written basically for the purpose of either providing readers with information or convincing them. Therefore, it is significant to classify newspaper headlines by judging their persuasive power. In this respect, newspaper headlines are categorized with three criteria of logos, pathos and ethos. As a result, titles of newspaper articles are realized under the category of informative strategy, popular strategy and intentional strategy. This study has reached the conclusion that the focus of newspaper headlines are turning gradually from logos to pathos.
