Because of the importance of the type III protein-secretion system in bacteria-plant interaction, its function inTo identify bacterial proteins interacting with Xanthomonashrp gene products that are involved in pathogenicity, weperformed the glutathione-bead binding analysis of Xanthomonaslysates containing GST-tagged Hrp proteins. Analysis ofglutathione-bead bound proteins by 1-DE and MALDI-TOFhas demonstrated that Avr proteins, RecA, and severalcomponents of the type II secretion system interact withHrpB protein. This proteomic aproach could provide awhose roles in host-pathogen interaction need further studies.
