Based on the Bogoliubov de Gennes equations, we have studied the SINIS junction made of normal metal sandwiched between two superconductors. The thin insulating layers are deposited between superconductors and normal metal, forming a tunnelling barrier that can be modelled as a delta-function potential with variable height. We calculate the energy spectrum of the multiple Andreev reflected bound states by using the scattering matrix approach, and the role of branch-crossing scattering is investigated.
