The purpose of this study was to investigate if the efficacy of dance exercise program to treat blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness, and metabolic syndrome was dependent of the guanine nucleotide-binding proteins 3 (GNB3) gene polymorphism in mid-life women. A total of 92 mid-life women who were pre-screened by the GNB3 C825T genotype, participated in 12 weeks of dance exercise program. With respect to changed scores in measured variables, participating in the dance exercise program significantly improved obesity indices, systolic blood pressure (SBP), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) variables. However, there were no significant genotype differences in the improvements of the measured variables following the 12-week dance exercise program. In conclusion, the current findings of the study suggest that the GNB3 gene C825T polymorphism might not modulate responses in indices of obesity and metabolic syndrome to exercise training in this study population.
