The position of history of thought at the time of the rise of the Republic and fall of the Ch’ing, it was closely related to successive process reorganizing ‘self’ in the world order centering around nation-state from Western Europe. It is in touch with historical process reorganized in the form of nation-state of ‘China’ from traditional view of the universe of ‘Sinocentrism’. Namely the national discourse of intellectuals at that time was kind of methodological grope about how to propose the position of new born modern ‘China’ externally and how to bring up ‘the people’ of the member of modern nation. In the search of it, intellectual discourse of modern learning of ‘history’ gave identity to the people and justify their mobilization. At last history depictor of modern nation-state should choose history theory suitable for era to justify the retention of the nation. Chinese image as modern nation through the idea of the view of the world is closely related to the change of history viewpoint of Liang Qi-Chao. In the nineteen-hundreds, he strongly criticized traditional history in the midst of proclaiming the history evolution theory to construct modern nation-state by bringing up the people. However, he contended that give a lesson to the people and making a study Chinese traditional history by building modern history research methodology after his civilizational viewpoint had changed by after World War Ⅰ. It could be confirmed the clue carved modern nation China historically through knowledge power by establishing positive method of study on the basis of systematic historical material collection and analysis, its casual objective investigation. Furthermore, he intended to separate spiritual culture from natural scientific logic structure by analyzing human free will, the subject of history, can’t be explained totally by natural scientific principle of causality or inductive method of study. He intended to keep a check on the development of spiritual culture by including material civilization, which happened in history, place under the category of natural science to embody the progress because he understood natural science as circular reasoning logic structure. It can be said that his attitude of history finally began with effort to build the progress of spiritual culture of China logically. Judging from this viewpoint, nation can abandon traditional history not to be fallen but on the other tries to reorganize its past affirmatively which had been abandoned to attempt change in rank as another strategy when others, the object to struggle, had been changed. He intended to build another image of modern nation-state by finding knowledge power, which can appeal to the mind of each single person of the chinese, in the reorganized traditional culture through spiritual value in his latter period.
