<Abstract> The Japanese Modern feminists' Literature in the 1910s - Focus on ‘Seito’- Lee, Ji-Sook This thesis investigated the literary merit and the uppermost limit through the first japanese magazine for women, ‘Seito' on the basis of the condition and the school of the Japanese literary circles in the 1910s and the Japanese modern feminist literature causing this magazine to appear. ‘Seito’ founded in September of 1911 by Hiratsuka Raicho had been the center of the feminist movement until the suspension of publication in Feburary of 1916 creating a sensation to the Japanese society. Through the literary activity, the femists realized the irrational reality and raised doubts and complaint. As ‘the new women' they became a scorn of the people and were even oppressed by the press and administration. At that time, most of the people considered the movement that a woman demand for an equal right to a man as destruction of the system of the Japanese emperor, national character and the core of the Ie organization.
