A new diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser module was designed for use in a high-output-power laser by using a ceramic reflector as an optical pump cavity. In CW operation, a maximum output power of 517 W was obtained with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 38.9 %. In pulse operation, using dual acousto-optic Q-switches whose acousto-optic fields were perpendicular to each other, an average output power of 312Wwas obtained with a short pulse width of 55 ns at a 10-kHz repetition rate. This corresponds to a peak output power of 567 kW. The peak-to-peak pulse stability was measured to be less than 2 %, and the average output power stability was measured to be 0.23 %.
