The Making of Lee Jong-Ryul’s RevolutionaryMovement and Theory of National RevolutionKim, Sun MiThis paper is to examine Lee, Jong-Ryul’s revolutionary movement and theory of national revolution. He struggled to regain independence and raise a revolution in Korean society all his life. In this process he established the theory of national revolution. By considering his revolutionary activities as a process of the making of the theory of national revolution, this study aims to reconstruct his revolutionary movement. Also it purpose to analyze his theory of national revolution which got into shape in this process.This article consists of Lee, Jong-Ryul’s growth process and the analysis of revolutionary movement and theory of national revolution under the rule of Japanese imperialism and Korean liberation from Japan. It is largely because of his father that he has come to acquire a thorough resistance consciousness. And he came in contact with modern nationalism and socialism in Uiseong(의성) and Andong(안동). In this process, he raised a social consciousness against imperialism and feudalism. He played an active part in Korea and Japan, and his revolutionary movement developed into uncompromising struggles for anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism in many fields, included the youth movement, the student movement, the movement of national united front(민족협동전선운동), the activities of study and speech, and the movement of Hungpyung(형평운동) etc.It is the theory of national revolution that is the fruit of his long practice. Lee, Jong-Ryul established the revolutionary theory based on his fighting experiences under the rule of Japanese imperialism. His ideas were well brought out in The Criticism on The Current Political Line and Its New Direction-A proposal of campaign organization to unfold the revolution right(현 정치노선 비판과 그 신방향-혁명 正전개 캄파 조직의 제소로서) written in 1949.
