- A two-dimensional (2D) network from a carbosilane dendron containing 8Cl end group has been produced through the LB technique. The dendron G1P-8Cl, ((Cl2SiCH3CH2CH2CH2)2CH3SiCH2)2, was synthesized by the method of hydrosilation with dichloromethylsilane and alkenylation with allylmagnesium bromide. The G1P-8Cl solution dissolved in THF was spread on the aqueous subphase with various pHs. Monolayer behaviors were studied by the surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherm. Phase changes of the monolayers were observed by Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). The molecular structure of the LB film was determined by the FT-IR. The mechanical stability of the network film was indirectly evaluated by the SEM observation of the film morphology covered over the porous substrate. As a result, we have found that the dendrons could be inter-linked to 2D network at the air-water interface.
