세습무와 강신무는 개념적으로 구분해서 설명이 가능하지만 이질적인 존재가 아니다. 강신무와 세습무의 구분은 역사적상황적 맥락과 관계 속에서 이해해야 한다. 이 논문에서는 동일 지역에서 다른 성격의 무당들이 어떻게 공존하고 있는지 살펴보았다. 호남지역 무속의 현재적 특징은, 과거와는 달리 강신무의 활동 영역이 대폭 확대되고 있다는 점이다. 이에 따라 세습무 우위의 당골점쟁이 관계가 재편되고 있다. 세습무 우위의 대립적상보적 관계에서 점쟁이가 주도하는 관계로 변하고 있다. 무속 전승의 실상으로 볼 때, 세습무와 강신무의 구분을 고정적인 관점에서 다루기보다 변화 과정과 맥락 속에서 이해해야 한다는 것을 말해준다.


Examination for classifying ‘Saesoupmu’, ‘Gangsinmu’ through looking into ‘Saesoupmu’ example -centering on the relationship between ‘dangol’ and ‘fortuneteller’ of chollado- Lee, Gyung-Yup* It is possible to explain ‘Saesoupmu’(世襲巫) and ‘Gangsinmu’(降神巫) by dividing their concepts, but those two do not differ greatly. In this treatise, we confirmed how shamans of different personalities coexisted in the identical region. The present characteristics of musok in Honam area are that the activity field of Gangsinmu is extending steeply, contrary to the past. Accordingly, the relationship between dangol(a hereditary shaman) and fortuneteller which Saesoupmu is predominant over gangsinmu is being reorganized. The oppositive and cooperative relationship which Saesoupmu has predominance is changing into relationship in which fortuneteller leads. The real facts of musok transmission teach us that we should understand the relationship between Gangsinmu and Saesoupmu in a changing process and context.
