이 글은 강신무의 여러 사례를 통해 강신무와 세습무의 유형 구분의 여러 측면을 고찰한 것이다. 이에 따라 그동안 강신무는 강신 체험, 세습무는 세습이라는 단순한 구분에 문제가 있음을 제시했다. 특히 강신무의 경우에도 세습적인 면이 매우 강하게 작용하고 있음을 밝혔다. 강신체험, 구체적 신관, 춤과 음악, 점사, 재가집과의 관계, 무가 라는 여섯 측면에서 사례 중심으로 강신무의 개념을 다시금 설정하려고 했다. 그리고 강신무의 개념을 다음과 같이 정리했다. 그는 신병체험을 통해 무당이 되지만 세습적인 성향과도 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 영력을 바탕으로 하되 개인적인 능력과 예술적인 소양으로 굿을 진행한다. 그리고 굿판에나 점사에서 신의 뜻을 알아낼 수 있는 방법과 능력을 가진 점에서 다른 무당과 구별된다.


The Distinction between the Spirtistic Shamans and the Heredity Shamans Hong, Tea-han* This literature inquires into the heredity shamans and the spiritistic shamans with the cases. Thereupon, it has shown that the distinction, which has done till now, between the heredity shamans and spiritistic shamans has a lot of problems. It is a result of consideration on the spiritual experience, the notion of God, the contemplation of dance and music, consulting a fortuneteller, the relationship with clients , shamanic song and so on. Particularly, it is meaningful that hereditary side of spiritistic shamans is very important. Therefore, I arranged the notions of spiristic shamans like the following. Although he became a shaman through the experience of suffering from God , he has something closely with hereditary propensity and leads a Gut with personal capacity and artistic attainments ,but on the base of spiritual capacity. And it is distinguished him from other shamans ,because he has a capacity and way to get the messages of God at the Gutpan and fortunetelling.
