]The purpose of this thesis is to explicate《Creation》and novel as a media, the process of canonization and the formation of reader focusing on the Oh the shallow of the heart! and The sorrow of the weak of Kim, Dong-in in the early 1920's. Dong-in could make public the standpoint of the pure literature by making use of the literary coterie magazine and his fictions. Of course, because of two reasons of the coterie magazine and works written by a mixed Style of Writing Korean and Chinese characters, It seemed that the reader who could understand the fiction remained in minor. However, in terms of situation that the illiteracy rate was extremely high, the literate stratum was likely to play the decisive role which conveyed culture. We can know the inner world of the modern man who expressed his inside through the reading-response like the reading the book and writing his impressions of the book. Writing on the inside world was naturally connected with the first person's style of confession, through that point, we are able to look into the private love and the expressed aspect of self consciousness. we can also examine that the western love stories which protagonists of new generation referred to were the preliminary level in listing the canon(classic) after that time. In conclusion,《Creation》and Kim, Dong-in's early two fictions of the 1920s were not only to mediate between the Sinsosel(new fiction of 1910s) and the popular novel of 1930s, but also to desire the formation of 'literature-reader' who understood fiction and reproduced the discourse of the pure literature.
