본고에서는 충청남도 황도의 당제를 현지조사한 내용을 서술하면서 그 변화의 의의를 고찰하였다. 황도당제의 현지조사는 2000년 2월 6일부터 7일까지와 2001년 1월 25일부터 26일까지 2차에 걸쳐 조사되었다. 이중 2001년의 현지조사가 본고의 근간이 되었다.당제 준비는 당제 당일날 전수회관과 당집에서 동시에 이뤄졌다. 과거처럼 당주를 선출하는 일도 없고, 많은 금기사항들이 기피되기 때문에 이제는 접근하기 쉽고 누구나 참여할 수 있는 당제가 되었다. 당젯날 아침, 붕기와 뱃기가 꽂혀 있는 전수회관에서는 마을 부녀자들이 음식준비를 했다. 당제가 시작되기전 당사 앞에서는 소잡기가 있었다. 굿은 김금화가 주관했다. 피고사를 시작으로 당오르기 제사가 진행되었다. 이어 부정거리, 초가망거리, 영정거리, 칠성거리, 성주굿, 소대감거리, 성수거리, 밤제모시기, 타살거리, 사실세우기, 새만신 몸주내림굿, 대감거리, 노기제사, 시숙나누기와 뱃고사 의식, 뒷전거리, 용신제 순으로 황도당제가 진행되었다. 각각의 절차에서 주무(主巫)는 마을사람들과 어울려 그들의 이야기를 들어주기도 하고 공수를 하면서 위로하기도 하고, 마을의 문제점을 지적하기도 하며 굿의 절차를 밟아갔다.황도당제는 축제적 기능이 강화된 것이었다. 그것은 당제의 물질적 풍부와 금기사항이 기피되는 현실에서 두드러지고 있었다. 당제가 진행되는 동안 마을사람들에게 제공되는 술, 음식 등은 과거보다 확대되고 풍족해 져 황도당제는 축제적, 놀이적 성격을 확대하는 경향이 커지고 있었다.


A Field Investigation of HwangDo Ritual Sim, Sang-Gyo & Lee, Cheol-Woo This thesis is field investigation about HwangDo Ritual of today & yesterday. HwangDo Ritual has performed the second day of the lunar New Year, most important traditional holidays for Koreans. HwangDo Ritual have given blessing to HwangDo residents from many traditional folk ritual entertainment. This paper is worked by field investigation from 6~7, Feb, 2000 to 25~26, Jan, 2001. Most of the events of the ritual festival are held in the DangSa(shrine) area and along the village hall. There are many BoongGi(white-colored & ornamental shamanic fishing flag) as well as village people, camaramen, politicion, officials & investigator who enjoyed traditional performances and prayed shaman ritual. HwangDo Ritual distinguished by killing a live cow(called Jitae) in front of DangSa(shrine). Beefs are consumed Jesook & Sisook (dediacted foods to village god) and main dish for village people. HwangDo Ritual is started by Dangorgi which is a footrace ceremony while they are taking a Baetgi(colorful fishing flag). And then Kim, Kum-Hwa performed a Gut over the night. Gut bless to village people. Gut is Artistic and theatrical ceremony in nature, it is characterized by music and dance centered round the mudang, who acts as conduit to the spirit world. With the aim of promoting traditional Korean values and folk religion, officiaal cultural institutions will set up venues and amenities for traditional folk performances at villages and other national historic places. Koreans are given the opportunity to participate at designated sites.
