A rebar detailing optimization model, using GA, was proposed in this study. The key point of rebar detailing lies in eliciting optimal solution-minimum loss and best constructability considering the standard length-while satisfying constraints, specification, and structural design criteria. In calculating standard length, GA was studied. (1) The fitness function of the GA was drawn up considering minimum loss, and constructability of work(minimum cutting, usage of same standard length) of usable standard rebar length. Parameter of 100 chromosomes population, 0.9 crossover probability, 0.01 mutation probability, 500 repetitions was applied. Optimal solution for all chromosomes was converged after 60 repetitions.(2) After applying GA, it was found that in case of rebar detailing of continuous member, it satisfied the joint criteria set by specification. It was also found that loss can be reduced because quantity can be estimated with minimum loss taking standard length into account.
