At present, physical education at various levels of schools in Korea is in charge by a single official in the government's very-restricted educational environments in both lifelong education and vocational education. That is, restrictions are abundant in the matters of jobs, licenses, and competition. Therefore, school physical education has a hard time slowly responding to the changes of future. In this respect, correct directions should be suggested in policy-making, execution, and evaluation for the promotion of school physical education. So that school physical education can systematically lead to lifelong sports education, we might need some specialists and programs for the cooperation with the circles beyond the school world. For the support in concerned policies, whoever supplies the support, we might also need the empirical understanding of the reality and policies as sound forums. It's high time for the Korean sports circle to change rapidly and dramatically. In the global viewpoint, high emphasis is laid on the training of superb specialists to keep in touch with the trend of knowledge-information society as well as specific and characteristic competitive edges. In sum, the importance and necessity of school physical education are well proved in homes, societies, and nations. In that school education needs to play its own role to fit the 21st century, the sports circle and the government may have to be as active as possible. If a great mission is to educate leaders who can teach children healthily and wonderfully, even greater will be the mission for those excellent teachers to teach youngsters desirably and properly.
