A cellular automaton model is used to analyze the critical behavior of two competing species in a nite space. We assume that one species produces a toxic substance a ecting the other species. Therefore, the growth of each species depends on the existence of nutrients and toxicants. We demonstrate the existence of a phase transition from the state of locally isolated clusters to the state of in nitely spanning clusters under various initial conditions. In the critical regions, the cluster-size distribution shows a power-law behavior.
