Ⅰ. 서론

Anthrophosophy (Anthroposophie) of Rudolf Steiner which was the main current in the Psychiatry of western Europe from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, has been introduced and researched in Korea as a basic philosophy of alternative education, organic agriculture, and alternative medicine since the beginning of 1990's. Anthrophosophy organized by Steiner means wisdom of human beings as a compound word of Anthropos (human being) and Sophia (wisdom). That is, it mentioned that a mental phenomenon needed to be recognized in the nature of human beings as well as the physical body of human being. It emphasized on that human beings had to be first aware of the nature of sensitivity and spirit under the consciousness of human being. R. Steiner applied his ideology and thoughts to architectures and designs. Architectures designed and planned directly by R. Steiner for Anthrophosophy society, designed logo type, book jacket, illustration, and poster were affected by Jugendstil. It had the same historical and social background as Art Nouveau Style as a pursuit of new style on a culture, philosophy and science throughout Europe. Pessimistic thought on realistic world desired free and natural things and was intended to represent a daily environment and free thought by adopting the organic form from the nature. Being Art Nouveau Style of Germany, Jugendstil seemed to be short-lived as a decoration-centric art. But, in a formative design based on Anthrophosophy, the theory of R. Steiner has widely applied to the educational institutions, hospitals, banks, religious organizations, publishers, environment-friendly agricultural products, additive foods, medicines, and cosmetics up to now.
