Ⅰ. 서론

Parody is one of major methods to create literature, and that is widely used from classical literature to recent postmodernism in the West and Asia. In a broad sense, parody can be called a sort of imitation, and has often been found in specific types of plays that imitate works of literature in a comic and satirical manner or make fool of something. Nobody can deny that the Internet was the top hot commodity in the 20th century, and that affects across the board. As information-oriented society is emerging, parody cases are rapidly on the rise, and that's the case for not only design sector but every literary genre. A wide variety of intellectual properties, including movies, dramas, literature, music, art and TV shows, are being parodied. Specifically, that produces an enormous advertising effect in relation to politics.Political parody posters about the impeachment of the president drew huge public attention, and the political parody poster competition held by National Election Commission served as an opportunity for people to make a keen satire on politics, which had long been considered a taboo, and then they got to see politics in a new light. Despite the growing popularity of parody, however, few studies have ever focused on that field, and there is little well-organized definition of it and relevant concepts. The purpose of this study was, therefore, to delve into what parody was in association with the expression of humor, what types of parody there were, in which way humor could be applied visually as a basis of parody and whether or not design humor could work. It's also attempted to look into current political parody posters and their effects. And finally, what made political parody posters universalized, what problems they entailed and how to cope with the problems were discussed.
