We live in a world overflowed with mass information. The fast paced technological evolution is changing the times and our lives to a brand new direction. The new digital information in intelligent society will bring about huge transformation to our lives, environment and mankind. This makes the coming era more difficult to predict. The external factors and mass data added with social, cultural happenings impose great influence on our living condition as well as interior design. Therefore, it's mandatory for one to keep up with the social environment of the 21century to forecast the up-coming trends. Looking from a larger perspective the word "Trend" indicates a design term and it can also mean tendency of taste or style. In this study I wish to examine the new trend of style in interior design. When we speak of style-- Is trend naturally initiated or artificially initiated? This study was approached with a given condition that trend is evolved by a series of social factors that build up to become a phenomenon. And these phenomenonsare picked up and applied to products by designers so as to become a "Style". Analysis of literal documents and case studies were used to solidify the credence of this study. And the following four categories were set in advance to find out what factors are need to develop a trend. 1. Social and Cultural Factor 2. Consumer's Emotional Factor 3. General Design Inclinational Factor 4. Tendency in Interior Style Factor There has been an active and systematical trend study on various fields of fashion. However, the trend studies in Interior Design have been insufficient and inadequate making this study more difficult to reach complete amplitude. Nevertheless I hope that this study will be utilized as a platform for future studies on Interior Design Trend.
