Liang Qi Chao's taste theory is mostly based upon Chinese traditional philosophy and art theory. So Liang`s taste theory is quite different from British taste theory and shows his understanding of Chinese thought; Liang`s taste concerns not only fine art but also many aspects of everyday life. His taste means the pleasure of life, and the pleasure of life is caused by so called 'disinterested' attitude toward the life itself. The concept of disinterestedness concerns his theory of life and his theory of art at the same time. It is the condition of art like life. On the other hand, the pleasure of life and the pleasure of artistic experience have the same origin; the pleasure is caused not by the description of very common things in everyday life or the expression of ordinary sentiments, but by the description or expression of the delicate and the undescribable. In Liang's opinion, the ability which catches and describes or expresses the delicate and the undescribable, is the genius in art. Although the genius is unteachable inborn talent and it is the ideal, we can increase the pleasure of life by increasing sensibility through art education.
