>본 연구는 통합교육을 받고 있는 특수교육 대상학생들의 학습의 질을 개선할 수 있는 하나의 전략으로서 모든 사람들의 접근성 보장을 목적으로 하는 보편적 설계의 개념을 교육에 적용할 수 있는 방안을 모색하여 보았다. 구체적으로 보편적 설계를 교육에 도입하고자 하는 사회적 배경과 학습을 위한 보편적 설계의 개념 및 원리를 정당화하는 이론적 배경을 뇌의 시스템과 테크놀로지의 발달을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 학습을 위한 보편적 설계의 원리와 그것의 실행 방안들을 뇌의 인지 시스템과 전략 시스템, 그리고 정서적 시스템에 적응할 수 있는 교육과정 자료 및 도구 개발의 측면에서 탐색하였다.


The purpose of this study is to investigate a practical plan of universal design application to education as strategies to enhance the quality of learning for students with disabilities in inclusion setting. For this purpose, this study researched brain systems and technology development to verify the theoretical background that justifies an application of a general idea of universal design to education. And the principle and practical plan of universal design were discussed to develop educational curriculum materials and instruments based on the function of three brain systems. The major conclusions of this study are as followings: First, in the social background, the application of universal design to education is an well approach to solve problems at four issues of economy, law, ethics, and learning effect. The theoretical background of universal design for learning is that three different brain systems have different roles to carry out learning task, and that the development of technology enables the universal design to implement three different functions of brain systems. Second, the principle of universal design is to develop an adaptable media to meet the learner's need. To be an adaptable media, learner can select the media suited to her/his brain system by presenting description, expression, and a variety of means for learner's participation. Third, the site of digital and web based curriculum should be established to combine the diverse instruments, programs, and learning materials because no single media can be possible to construct learning environment of universal design.
