본 연구는 유아교육기관에서 주로 사용하고 있는 교수 학습지도자료인 제6차 유치원 교육활동 지도자료에 나타난 남녀 차별적인 요소를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 지도자료 중에 남녀 등장인물의 출현빈도, 비중, 직업, 활동내용을 분석범주로, 문장과 그림을 분석단위로 설정하였다. 분석결과, 남녀의 출현비율이 여자에 비해 남자가 많이 나타났으며 인물비중 면에서도 주인공 등장인물로 남자가 높게 나타났다. 여자의 경우는 주로 전업주부에 종사하고 남자는 다양한 직업에 고루 분포되었으며 유아의 등장인물의 활동내용에서는 5차 교육과정에 비해 남녀 차별적 요소가 좁혀진 것으로 나타났다.


The purpose of the study was to analyze the gender role described in teaching materials for preschool. Analysis items were frequency of occurrence, relative importance of character, job status, and kind of activity in terms of gender. Analysis units were 72 for sentence and 87 for illustration. Findings showed that male characters appeared more frequently in sentences and illustrations than females. Males were portrayed more frequently as a hero than females. More specifically, in occupational activities, while male adults were likely to take part in more various kinds of jobs, women were typically limited being housewives. Relatively, male and female equally participated in various activity. Compared to 5th teaching materials, the descriptions of male' superiority to female have been reduced. Finally, this study suggest that the curriculum and instructional guidelines should be prepared on the basis of gender equality.
