The principle of hydration reaction in blast furnace slag cement is destruction of acid-layer formed on the surface of blast furnace slag particle, and it's reaction happens when an accelerator is present. Due to many differences such as hydrate products, pore system, and pore volume with the types of accelerator, the effect on the speed of early hydrate reaction is of great variety. The purpose of this study is to examine the carbonation, dry shrinkage, and freeze-thaw resistance of cement mortar using blast furnace slag with types of accelerator to enhance the early compressive strength and reduce the drying shrinkage. The results show that long term drying shrinkage and carbonation is increased when blast furnace slag added. Carbonation is influenced by blast furnace slag added and freeze-thaw resistance of cement mortar is influenced by water cement ratio.
