The importance of information management in construction projects has been widely agreed. For this reason, many universities' architectural engineering department have established the class of information management in construction or introduced this part into existing courses. However the hard systems method, the foundation of various information management system, which have been introduced into construction industry, occupies the main contents of the class. The problem is that this method has a limitation to cope with the complex real world situation. Most of all, the perspectives of various parties involving in the construction project are unique and thus the process to construct a consensus is essential for the project success. Predefined data and its flow in the information system developed in the line of hard systems method can only partly support this sense making process. In order to fulfill this requirement, the soft systems method was evolved. The soft systems method (SSM) can play two main roles: a tool to construct consensus; a process to clarify problem situations. As the context of any construction projects is unique, the professionals in the industry should have the ability to accomodate this method by themselves. This research aims to present a class module for educating students at higher education institutes to obtain the knowledge and skills on implementing SSM.
