The purpose of this study is to analyze the contemporary architectural trends in Los Angeles. Some of the names of the designers, who represent the Los Angeles contemporary architecture, are Frank Gehry, Morphosis, Eric Owen Moss, and Frank Israel. Some designers among them could be categorized under different label, but particularly these four architects can be grouped as one category partly because of their same locality, and mainly because of the common ideas that are worthy of being investigated under same category in modern movements. Even though the label, Los Angeles School, is not commonly recognized, these four main architects have contributed enough, with their buildings, lectures and publication, to form a School. Their activities are known not only locally but also internationally. So are their architectural and socio-cultural influences and impacts on others. The results of this study were as follows; Their architectural achievement is in their neo-modernistic perspective on architectural direction in future. Their creative, optimistic and transcendental design combined with pragmatic, ad-hoc en-formality opened up new possibility that had not been sought for by other post-modern designers. LA School designer's attitude towards the environmental issue including the energy efficiency, however, was indifferent and defensive. This leads them to design self-contained and interior oriented buildings. It was caused by LA's multivalent and socio-cultural heterogeneity. But the same cause, heterogeneity, affected them to be more creative in applying heterogeneous elements from multi-cultural identity.
