The building has lifecycle-construction, maintenance, demolition-. Through lifecyle, the building consume the energy and resources and, at the same time, emits the environment pollution materials. Since in the middle of 1990's, various research has been conducted to assess the environmental affection and many technologies would be applied into building to diminish the consumption amount of energy and resources, environmental load. Among them, there is a assessment methodology to evaluate the energy consumption and CO2 emission of building in lifecycle. This paper analyzed the energy consumption and CO2 emission of building materials in constuction stage using the input-output analysis. The use of input-output analysis utilized the industry linkage when building materials, energy and resources could be inputted into building in construction stage. The number of research building is 4 and built to use for public post office. building structure is reinforced concrete structure and steel structure. In this research, energy consumption unit of steel structure is 1,126M㎈/㎡(SS1), 1,283M㎈/㎡(SS2) and is higher than the reinforced concrete structure RC1(848.8M㎈/㎡) and RC2(809.7M㎈/㎡). This resulted from the differences of required building materials according to the building structure. The CO2 emission has a similar form compared with an energy consumption condition. The CO2 emission of steel structure SS1 and SS2 are 97.6㎏-c/㎡, 109.8㎏-c/㎡ and the emission amount of steel structure is higher than the reinforced concrete structure. In steel structure, the energy consumption and CO2 emission of shaped steel and cold strip iron are higher than any other building material. And the energy consumption and CO2 emission of bar and remicon are higher than any other building materials in reinforced concrete structure.
