Perception must be the fundamental both of reflective thinking by Merleau-Ponty and of aesthetic experience in dance. By perceptive action, we reflect the sense experience. The thesis comprehends that perception is the essence of phenomenon that is foundation of signified existence of dance. By perception, the visible phenomenon of dance, the invisible-essential foundation and the relation between the visible and the invisible can be clarified. The thesis discusses about the realization of the visible and the invisible through choreographers' creative processes with their dancers' bodies. The creative process utilizing variously the dimensional bodies by different choreographers are discussed for the construction of dance ontology. Furthermore the discussions are summarized as follows: 1)The thesis discusses the lived experience basing on the conception of sense and perception by Merleau-Ponty, explores the dancer's body through existence of dance basing on the intentionality of experience, and comprehends the phenomenon and substance of dance basing on immediate experience, consciousness and consciousness- world. 2) The visible in dance means phenomenon, that is time, space, interacting force and physicality, on the other hand, the invisible means the significance of expressive movement, inner landscape and aesthetic contents. 3) Historically dancers‘ bodies utilized by choreographers are considered to be the bodies as media, cognitive subject, expressive purpose, image and activity itself. The dancer's body accomplishes the pure substance of dance and dance-ontology in cooperation with dance's imaginative and symbolic function.
